Instantly add up to 200 lbs. of extra flotation to the stern of your boat and increase its natural plane for easily penetrating skinny water and mud flats. These flotation pods minimize draft and make your boat float nearly flat by offseting the weight of your motor. They’re shaped to automatically funnel water towards the prop, keeping you moving in the shallowest water. The unique, angled shape of each pod prevents uncontrolled spins and eliminates over-turning. These pods also reduce fuel consumption and engine laboring, while increasing take-off power and eliminating taildrag and transom backsplash. Adds length to the boat making it easier to get on plane. All-aluminum require welding onto the stern of your boat. Sold per pair (left and right) . Available:
Small – Fits 14- to 16-ft boats. Pod width: 15-1/2"
Medium – Fits 17- to 18-ft. boats. Pod width: 18-1/2"
Large – Fits 20-ft. boats. Pod width: 21-1/2"
The Beavertail Performance Flotation Pods are designed to be universal fit, however, they will need to be professionally mounted as some welding is required. Simply order the correct size for your boat.
The small pods should fit your boat. Here's what to do to check. I am surprised Cabelas does not list the full product dimentions, so you will have to go to beavertail's website and look at the dimentions diagram for the small pods. Mark the width and height on your transom (for each pod#, and use a triangle angle finder or 90 degree straight edge to mark #or at least visualize# the length #depth). After you do this, you will be able to determine weather the long drive shaft on your model motor will clear the pods. My understanding of your motor, is that the prop's underwater depth is adjusted at the tiller by way of a hinge. If this is the case, the angle of your prop shaft may be limited by the length of the pods. Hope this helps.
I want to put these on a 14' Monarch, bottom of stern is not exactly flat, has a very small amount of "V", and is 40" across the bottom. Will be using with long shaft go-devil. Will this work on my boat??
According to Beavertail the Product Beavertail Performance Flotation Pods are designed for boats 14" and longer because of the width of the transom. The installation instructions require that the pods not extend past the sides of the boat. The distance between the pods on a smaller boat may restrict the amount the motor can turn. Beavertail estimates that on a 10' boat there would be "a maximum space of only 10 inches between the Pods after installing them."
Beavertail Performance Flotation Pods (021372) would increase stability on a 14' Jon Boat in deep or shallow water. To obtain maximum motor efficiency you need the longest plane possible. The Flotation Pods not only increase the plane of your boat, but also offer up to 200 lbs. of extra flotation. This extra flotation helps to off-set the negative performance often associated with the extra weight of a heavy motor. The pods help in getting up on plane faster or running through shallow water with greater stability.
