Question

CCI/Speer item IK - 210841 , what is this item?

The reason I am asking is that on CCI's site they only sell 2 items that are 40 Grain LRN that come in a pkg of 50 and they are the Pistol Match and the quiet-22, which both of these are subsonic. Is this something just pkg'd for Cabela's?

answer 2
TMJ stands for total metal jacket just the same as with any handgun ammo. In rimfire this is a pretty thin copper plating that prevents leading and holds the bullet together a little better that pure lead. These bullets almost always have a flat point which really helps with killing game. Personally, I like them as well as hollow points because they seem to give a little better penetration. In 22 mag at ranges under 100 yards, I view them as good as any other bullet design.

Well, the bullets don't make any noise at all unless they hit something solid. :)

As to the report from the powder burning as the bullet exits the muzzle, these make about as much - or as little - noise as the other brands of high-velocity .22LR ammo.

This is standard ammo and will not affect the warranty in any firearm. It is lower powered than the premium ammo such as the CCI Stingers. There really is no such thing as +P ammo in 22 rimfire, so no worries.

I have never heard of "+P-rated" .22LR ammo. I don't have a Taurus so cannot directly answer your question: my best guess is they don't recommend "Hyper-Velocity" ammo such as the CCI Stingers or Remington Yellow Jacket rounds (1500-1600 fps). CCI Mini-Mags have a rated velocity of 1200-1260 fps, and are considered High Velocity.

If you are worried about damaging it, I recommend you contact the manufacturer and ask them.

Exploding bullets became illegal to sell about 30 years ago. You can no longer add anything in the nose of a bullet that causes an explosion on impact. The exception are items like those shotguns loads that explode in the air to scare away crows/ geese and issues like that. The term TNT really is just their marketing terms describing the bullet on impact. By design the bullet basically disentigrates even when hitting a small object like a ground squirrel. They are designed for hunting things like prairie dogs, ground squirrels, and animals you do not intend to eat. I like them because they come apart so easily which make them much less likely to ricochet, which is always an issue with regular 22 ammo. As a lawyer, I always recommend folks to use ammo like this when shooting anywhere that a ricochet is going to go where you dont want it to go---and hurt somebody or some cow or get yourself a lawsuit.....ricochets are always baaaad.

Yes but it is low velocity. So when it starts getting dirty is will get to a point where it will not slam back as fast as higher velocity ammo such as the stingers. It is not dirty at all, just pointing out that all standard and low velocity ammo will required cleaning a little sooner that the faster stuff.
