The tradition kit sold at cabala's is percussion cap only. I don't know it they offer a flintlock version at all.

Is patched ball rounds the only type of rounds that can be used? And are lead rounds the only rounds or can I use other types?

For the Traditions Kentucky Rifle Kit, the manufacturer recommends using only lead round balls.

you should be able to use conicals.as well as roiund balls. I start with a little less powder and work my way up. Say 80 grams then on up.

The one I got was a Tight 50 cal. I believe they also make the kits in 45 cal.

The Traditions™ Kentucky .50 Caliber Rifle Kit, Item # IK-216695, is a black powder firearm and as such does not need to go to an FFL dealer in your state, it can go to your house in most states including California.
