Hi; Yes, it is legal for the Colorado MZL season as long as you do not mount a scope on it (only open sights are legal during the Colorado MZL season). Also, you cannot use sabots, nor pelletized power during the MZL season.
I helped a friend work up a load, and sight in, this Traditions muzzleloader last fall. It is a very nice rifle that shot very well with 100 grains of loose T7 (FFG) behind a 348 grain Powerbelt Aerotip. Good luck.

The Vortek Ultralite Northwest Magnum has all the same features as described in the Ultralite Vortex, plus it is specifically designed for people in your part of the country that require the specific legal requirements for your area. Other then those special features they are the same.

They are both good rifles. However, most people in the know would tell you that T/C is the top of the line in black powder rifles. Both have barrel protection, overmolded stocks, hand removable breech plug, both are lightweight, both .50 cal., both have fast, easy cleaning. I think the Vortek is a good bang for the buck, but some people have to have the T/C. Some of that is of a personal nature.
