The Herter 30-30 ammo looks to be a similar design like any other 30-30 ammo where the lead flat tip is a bit larger than the primer area. This keeps pressure off of the primer.
It is designed that way for tube mag use.
If your ammo has a point small enough to push on a primer then NO, don't use in tube design mag.

Yes they are, both are manufactured in the Czech Republic and Herter's is made by Sellier & Bellot and I have shot both through a Chronometer and they were on the mark and without knowing you can not tell the difference. But as far a the Garand goes you would be well advised to shoot ammunition that was made for a Garand. The pressures of other cartridges may very well damage your rifle or worse. American Eagle® Rifle Ammunition Item No: IK-214240 and PPU .30-06 M1 Garand Ammunition
Item No: IK-218567 both are good cartridges that are designed with the M1 Garand in mind and are in stock right now at Cabela's.

The spce projectiles I have found to be good for hunting. the front part of the projectile is able to mushroom while still keeping enough mass to deliver an effective amount of energy to the target. With that being said, I have only used them on coyotes and nothing larger, however I have known people to use them on deer effectively. Personally I find the accuracy to be alright, but nothing to write home about so I prefer to use something more accurate for hunting larger game, especially if it means the difference between a clean kill shot or having to track the deer for 100 yards.
The spce bullet should not damage a rifle barrel in any way, i've shot my fair share of these and have yet to have any issues with my barrel.
