Question

which rod holders would work?

If I want to buy additional rod holders, which would be best?
Would Scotty Pontoon Rod Holder Item: IK-022795 be best?
Where and how do additional rod holders mount?
It comes w/ one; however, I don't see that on the photo.
Why doesn't Cabela's list stuff like this under "You may also like?"
Thanks.

On the Classic Accessories Colorado XT Pontoon Boat, Item # IK-320236, a rod holder can be mounted in three different positions on each oar stand. These are round rails, not square, so a Scotty Square/Round Rail Adapter, Item # IK-022869, would be needed for use with a Scotty Pontoon Rod Holder, Item # IK-022795.

I am 6ft, 220 and use this boat on Colorado rivers and lakes every year. Based on how I sit in the boat when loaded down with camping supplies (tent, food, water purifies and such) I doubt that it would be good for that much weight. But, I could be wrong.

Depends on how much air is in your bladders on the boat and of course, how much you weigh. The bigger problem with leaving the wheel on is that it gets in the way. A fly-fishing truism: if it's there, the fly line will get tangled in it. I never leave my wheel on!

I did once but this is made strictly for freshwater. Make sure you rinse it thoroughly and do not use it in big swells or in the surf, you will be sorry if you do.If you use it in brackish water or all salt give it a coat of WD-40 before and after on all metal parts and use Armor All on the pontoons. I would not recommend using in salt water but if you do, make sure you clean it good.
I bought 2 of these from Cabelas

it is like 7 ft long and about 5 ft side to side. IT IS LARGE AND IT IS HEAVY. YOU ALSO CAN'T LOAD IN THE BACK OF A PICK UP TRUCK UNLESS U DEFLATE IT. YOU CANT LOAD IT ON TOP EITHER. IT IS TO BIG AND TO HEAVY. It does have wheels so it is easy to manuver around for short distances. nothing small about this pontoon but its great and fun.

No trick. When you put air INTO the bladders, the force of the air causes the valve to open, provided you have it in the shut-off position - which it should always be. If it is not working properly it will not fill up with air.

Another problem here is that some people use little battery operated pumps to fill them and for that you have to have the valve in the open position. Don't use those pumps - they don't have enough volume/force behind them to open a closed valve.

First you have to make sure that the valves are in the up position. If you push down and turn to the left they are open. To close them push down and turn right.
Second I bought Cabelas Double Action Pump. When you are pumping you are filling the pontoons when you are pushing down and pulling up. It is the best pump to use for this boat. And the plastic clear hose is for the valve adapters for the pump and pontoons.Good luck.

With lots of room to spare. These boats run on very little water so you don't need a lot of propulsion. In deeper water, that motor will do just fine.

Have you ever seen anything left in the water over an extended period of time that the water did not effect? I would find a way to store, preferably with most if not all of the air released from the chambers. I have owned my boat for many years now with many miles down the Gunnison in Colorado and it looks no worse for wear because I disassemble it if it is not going to be used for a while. Good luck!

Only comes w/ 1 rod holder for a fly rod. Rather small, and cheaply made. Barely can get my 5-weight rod/reel in there. I also purchased a second rod holder from Scotty. Cabela's sells these as well. They make small ones specifically for pontoon boats. I went with the Baitcaster model. Highly recommend it. Had to use rubber strips to create a tighter hold with the clamps.

You have to buy a storage bag in order to be able to maneuver it around. They are not cheap but once you use it, you won't leave home without it. My Colorado breaks down in the bag to about 4 ft long by 29,30 inches tall by about 24" wide, more or less

P.S. this boat has run some pretty good rivers in Colorado over the years - you will love it if you buy it!

Classic Accessories says it it 77 pounds with just the seat, frame and pontoons inflated. I don't think it weighs that much. I have back problems and I can pick it up fully inflated and put it on top of both my Jeeps. I actually use my Jeep Wrangler more than my Grand Cherokee. My Wrangler has a soft top(convertible) and I only need two ratchet straps one in front and in the middle. If anyone does put it on a Wrangler soft top just make sure it is balanced on both the windshield frame and the roll bar and run the straps thru both windows and over the top of the frame and the seat and it will ride at 60MPH no problems. Any other car it is good to have roof racks and you only need 2 straps. When putting on top of any vehicle don't inflate all the way if you are driving more than 10 miles and in the hot sun.The hot temps will inflate it and possibly cause a bladder failure By filling 3/4 chances are when you arrive it will have inflated all the way. In cooler temps you should fill it all the way cause it will loose air due to cold temps. And always check the pontoons when you arrive at your destination. Good luck.
