It is not too difficult of a pull. You don't need one really. We did buy a rope style assist though, just to make it a bit easier.

The Barnett Recruit Recurve Crossbow Package, item # IK-461292, has both the bolt size and speed that would be capable of being used for hunting whitetail deer. However, it is the responsibility of the archer to contact their local Game and Wildlife Department to verify that any specific weapon is legal for hunting in the archer's intended hunting area.

I know in Louisiana and Mississippi a 20 inch bolt is legal to hunt with. This xbow also has enough poundage as well, check your states wildlife dept. regs, but most minimum lengths I have seen have been in the 16-18" range.

answer 2
Package states 245 FPS. I sighted in at 20 yards and was hitting a 4" circle consistently. At 30 yards the bolt hit about 8" lower.

Shoots well, it's loud and the scope is garbage. I would not trust the scope to hold its setting during transport into the woods
