Question

What length (width) is the food carriage.

What I am trying to understand is how big of a piece of meat can be sliced with this machine? For instance, can I slice a full sized slab of bacon (about 9" wide)? Can I slice a large roast, etc.? Or, will everything have to be cut into smaller chunks. I really do not want to have to cut my bacon down in half and I would like to be able to slice a full sized (boneless, of course) ham.

Question

12" commercial grade questions

Regarding the 12" How wide of product will this handle? I'm really looking for something that can handle slab bacon. Also, I've been told by many than unless you have a heavy duty commercial, cheese is not recommended in the smaller slicers.

This is a meat slicer, not a meat saw. It may cut through small bones eventually, but is not designed to do so. I'm sure trying to cut a bone would dull the blade. Don't plan on cutting bone with this slicer.

I had this problem with mine. I just left a review. here is what i said. hope it helps. Short story is call the company and they will send you one for free.

I was excited to get this 8.6" commercial grade slicer after being disappointed by the performance of a competitors brand slicer. Everything looked great out of the box. Plugged it in and turned it on and the blade wouldn’t spin. I took off the bottom cover and discovered that the drive belt was snapped and just lying there. It was broken before it arrived at my door. I called the company for a replacement belt and received it in about four days. They said it was an easy fix so I didn’t take it back to the store. It wasn’t... In order to replace the belt I had to remove the bottom plate, take apart the cutting wheel and spline, and remove the motor. Not as easy as it sounds, especially without any sort of instructions. The 3 screws that held the motor on to the housing stripped the threads off the housing. Noticed this when I removed them. So when I went to try to put them back in, they wouldn’t hold. I called the company back about this and all they could suggest was that I shove some tape in with the screws to snug them in. In my opinion this is not a valid fix and would only prolong the complete failure until out of warrantee, if that long. They mentioned that if I sent it back to them for the repair that that’s what they would do to repair the problem. This makes me wonder about their products Quality. If this happens to you, don’t fall for it. I still want the slicer and will give them a second chance. I will be taking it back to Cabelas for an even exchange.

One more thing, if you ever have to remove any of the screws, be careful. The housing is made of aluminum and if you cross thread or over tighten you risk stripping them out.
